Photography helped her accept her body and regain her confidence. A violent relationship took her away from it; she came back to it with people around her.

In December 2021, Laura Vervekken is 22 and is in the second year of a bachelor’s in marketing in Namur. A photo model for a few years, she is happy to travel, “whatever the region”.

A world she has always loved

I started photography at around 18 because it's a world I've always loved, both photos of models with photographers and photos of landscapes and animals.

That wasn't the main reason, though, she adds.

Photography helped me enormously to find myself again, to accept my body and, little by little, to build my self-confidence.

Six months away from the lens

Later, a relationship cut her off from this passion. She says she “ended up with a violent ex” who forced her to stop modelling, and that she slipped back into a dark period, despite her everyday zest for life.

She came out of it after six months, thanks to a photographer, Dany Massart, and to her family and friends.

Then, of course, I went back to photo shoots because I had missed them so much. I have a wonderful time and meet photographers and discover exceptional places!
