In brief. Trained at the Make Up For Ever Academy in Brussels in 2013, Adeline Laubach does make-up for photo shoots, weddings and Lux Fashion Week, and in Arlon supports people whose appearance has been changed by illness. A portrait of a make-up artist who would rather reveal than conceal.

Adeline Laubach
She is always first backstage. In September 2026, her name appeared on the giant screen at Lux Fashion Week, above a show she had devised for the behind-the-scenes trades.

Adeline Laubach hasn’t always had a brush in her hand. After finishing secondary school with an art option, she worked in hospitality and retail before discovering make-up: “Make-up came into my life as something obvious, even though I hadn’t seen it coming.”
Trained at the Make Up For Ever Academy in Brussels in 2013, where she was accepted on the strength of an art portfolio, she chose the long course: beauty, theatre, film, special effects and artistic make-up. Years of weddings, photo shoots, events and training followed.
In October 2021, info-lux.com already credits her with the make-up for a Pink October photo session by photographer Sandrine Goguin, raising awareness of breast cancer screening. In September 2024, she does the models’ make-up for free at the Culture Fashion Day in Neufchâteau.

Her favourite style is “no makeup makeup”, a look that enhances without masking. She doesn’t try to impose a style, but to reveal that of the person in front of her.
My role is to read between the lines. Behind “I want something natural”, there is sometimes a wish to feel exceptional.

“Make-up has an incredible power over how we see ourselves,” she also says.
On 12 May 2025, she opens Bulle de Vie at 7 avenue de la Gare in Arlon: an image-care space designed for people whose appearance has been shaken by illness, life’s hardships or bodily changes, with a specialism in oncology. She even offers people with alopecia the chance to recycle their own hair into a fringe headband.
It offers treatments, ethical cosmetics, turbans and hairpieces under the Oncobulle label for people with cancer. “I wanted to create a space where people can look after themselves in every sense,” she explains in 2025.

In 2025, she has been taking part in Lux Fashion Week for four years. That year, she did the make-up for two visually impaired models for the first time: “It was a rich and unforgettable experience. That day, make-up went far beyond looks.”
In 2026, with hairdresser Océane Van Damme, she presented her own show there, “Les talents de l’ombre”, with one visual constraint: the make-up had to “be seen from a distance”.
The idea came from a conversation with a friend, Christophe Collignon (Christophe Men’s Store), then a chat with Océane in her shop. The organisers approved the concept on 20 November. On the day, she was backstage at 8:30, “always the first one backstage”.

The show brings together four models, including Nova, Marine and Youness Nouader. For Nova, La Lumière, she focuses on the skin: “I went all in on a pearly, shimmering effect on the body.” For Youness, she wants a “dark, deconstructed” black.
For Marine, she works with a black sculpting paste, lit up with bronze leaf “as a nod to the flames”:
I tested it on myself and on her while editing the intro video, because it had to withstand heat and movement, and above all her skin mustn’t react.

What touched her most came from backstage: “the support of my colleagues and friends in the behind-the-scenes trades: make-up artists, hairdressers, photographers, designers' assistants, even some designers…”
Today I realise that recognition is even stronger than the spotlight.

Now also a trainer, she tells her students everything about the job, including the lack of recognition and the competition: “Passing it on is magical. I loved guiding my students as they discovered this profession.” Among current trends, she notes the return of bold lips and targeted make-up that serves individuality. In September 2026, she announced the “le Voile Noire” fashion show in Luxembourg on 14 November, and a wish: “If we can recreate our project somewhere else, we’d be delighted… You don’t change a winning team.”
