A ship named “l’Amirale”, butterflies, Italy, the beaches of Ostend, then David Bowie: from 2022 to 2026, her five collections for Arlon tell stories of travel in knitwear.

Damien Ducobu is the creator of the Damlaws label. A designer, he also works on furniture and contemporary design, with Herman Belgium, Axis71, Quattro Benelux and the Space Art Gallery in Redu.
Her brand’s values: softness, slowness, daydreaming and comfort.
His 2024 profile describes a designer's life shaped by encounters in dance, circus, theatre and film, followed by ten years as a creative in the corporate world of hairdressing. It was after setting up his own agency that he launched Damlaws. Alongside this, he still works as a consultant for brands in design, art, interior architecture and communications.
His approach is deliberately slow. In 2024, Damlaws is limited to two ranges, mohair knitwear and a line of leather handbags, both made in Italy, plus an Italian denim line built around the shows.

In 2022, her collection took the audience aboard her ship, “l’Amirale”: raw Italian denim sculpted to the body, with “an exoskeleton structure to offer protection when times get tough”, and finer fabrics for the jumpers and hats. In 2023, “l’Amirale” lands “on new shores” with “The new world – Butterfly empire”, where butterflies herald a transformation.
For this collection, Damlaws opens up to collaborations: the painter Dusch customises accessories and clothing, turning them into one-off pieces, and Nadia (Made by Nade) adorns the models with her jewellery.

In 2024, for the tenth Lux Fashion Week, he presents “Ma Dolce Vita”, a capsule collection born of years of travelling in Italy. The tones range from eggshell white to beige and ochre, the colours of Italian façades, picked out with touches of colour: a green door in Florence, a grey doorstep in Pisa, the multicoloured shutters of Lucca.
The same month, Damlaws also shows at the Culture Fashion Day in Neufchâteau, at the Espace 29.

His official presentation also mentions collections inspired by the landscapes of Ostend and Damgan, travel memories, slowness and contemplation. In 2025, his striped knits and hats took the audience “to the beaches of his heart in Belgium”, to an original score by Peter Bultink.

For his fifth Lux Fashion Week, on 18 September 2026, he presents “The Dam Star — Mohair Tribute to David Bowie”. As a teenager he discovered Bowie, who became for him a figure of freedom, transformation and emancipation. The show spans several periods, from Ziggy Stardust to Blackstar; the official presentation states that it “is not a re-enactment”.
Mohair, the season’s signature material, gives the clothes “a presence that is both graphic and enveloping”. The motifs read from a distance: Union Jack, lightning bolts, stars. The soundtrack is an original work by Belgian musician Peter Bultink, a long-standing friend.
