In brief. In early 2025, Shamsy Oukrad is 18, studying for a BTS (vocational diploma) in Metz, and has never been near a beauty pageant. Contestant no. 1 in Miss Élégance Nationale Lorraine, she sees it as a personal challenge: to show you can be elegant while staying yourself.

At the start of January 2025, Shamsy Oukrad is 18. She is in the first year of a BTS in small-business management at the Lycée Robert-Schuman, and is preparing for the first pageant of her life, Miss Élégance Nationale Lorraine.
In the contestant presentations published by info-lux.com on 6 January 2025, after the first rehearsals in Nilvange, she describes herself as follows.
My name is Shamsy, I’m 18, I’m of Moroccan origin and I live in Metz. I’m currently studying for a BTS in small business management (BTS Gestion de la PME).
Shamsy Oukrad, January 2025

It is her first time in this world. She signed up to step out of her comfort zone, gain self-confidence and prove that elegance goes beyond appearance.
She is not going it alone: her cousin and a friend are competing too, and she is the one who encouraged them. What matters, she told them, is not winning but living the experience to the full.
At home, the news came as a surprise: the world of pageants was completely new to her. Yet her family and friends encouraged her straight away.

Shamsy lives in Metz, a city she loves for its history, its architecture and its atmosphere. For visitors, she recommends the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne and its stained glass, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Jardins de la Seille and the banks of the Moselle, then Amnéville, with its zoo and thermal baths.
In Moselle, what touches her most is the welcome: you quickly feel at home there, she sums up.
The cause she carries is a personal one. Shamsy lost her little sister, who was disabled, and saw at first hand how hard daily life was, for her sister and for her family alike. If elected, she wanted to support projects that give people with disabilities more visibility and support.
For her, becoming Miss was a chance to gain confidence and to show that a determined young woman from a modest background can represent Moselle and inspire other young people to believe in their dreams.

For her, a Miss should be authentic, approachable and humble, without lacking confidence. Her style mixes comfort and elegance, adding a personal touch to the trends.
When the stress builds, she stops to breathe. To those who doubt they fit the idea people have of a Miss, she says that every person is unique, and that is exactly what makes the difference.

On 18 January 2025, at the château de Nilvange, she parades with the seven other contestants in evening gown, swimsuit and wedding dress. The info-lux.com report describes her as a BTS (vocational diploma) student who dreams of setting up and running her own business, and who sees authenticity as the competition’s core value.
The title goes to Carla Mastrorillo, ahead of Noa Hamama and Cécile Ponzellini.
